NCMEC has incredible resources and a Congressional mandate. We believe NCMEC will become a huge force in the search for Sean. The family was contacted by the team leader on SAT at 6 am! They do not stop working.
The family and friends of Sean Sidi, would like to extend thanks to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). NCMEC is the largest nonprofit in the world providing assistance to missing children. Sean was registered with NCMEC as of June 28th under Suzanne's Law that allows NCMEC to provide additional resources to missing persons 18-21 to include profiling case information on the website at www.missingkids.com, investigative assistance, case analysis, and more. We are extremely thankful to Robert G. Lowery Jr., Senior Executive Director, Missing Children Division for expediting this process.
Thank you to all of you who have written and called the Mayor's and the Attorney General's office, on Sean's behalf. Your support is invaluable in raising awareness amongst the authorities who can provide assistance and resources in the search for Sean.
FBI Response - San Francisco Police has informed the Sidi Family that the FBI declined to handle Sean's case. Although no formal reason was given, it is the family's understanding that the FBI requires a federal nexus for case acceptance. This would include but not be limited to situations involving the crossing of interstate lines, such as in a kidnapping case. That being said, there may be "exceptions". The Sidi Family is conferring with their consultant to decide next steps.
You Help Is Needed to Expand the Search for Sean - It has now been 5 weeks since Sean vanished. The Sidi Family would like to expand its search of Sean throughout California, and beyond. Your help is greatly needed in this effort. A NEW FLIER is available for download (here) and on Facebook.com/FindSeanSidi. Please help by sharing the FaceBook link. Response to the Vigil and Sean's circumstances has been overwhelming.
We are happy to report that the SFPD has accomplished the following:
1) Sean has been listed as a Dependent Adult, "at risk" in all databases for missing persons. Sean's identifying medical information has been listed as well.
2) The FBI duty officer this morning was notified/briefed as to Sean's case
3) Golden Gate Bridge district will research what video/data may be of use and then review it!
The Sidi Family would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department for it efforts in the search.
Specifically the vigil will be at Stanyan & Page in the grassy area. We hope to see you tomorrow at 2PM. There are significant updates to share and we hope you join us. If you are unable to join us, please note that we will post the update tomorrow.
