Help find Sean Sidi

We need your help to find our son

REAL LIFE STORIES OF HOPE - HELP NEEDED IN CAMPAIGN OF HOPE

As many of you know, Sean, our 19 year old son, survived a horrific accident and a severe traumatic brain injury, ONLY to vanish from San Francisco, CA without a trace several months later on May 21, 2013. See www.facebook.com/findseansidi and www.seansidi.com for details.

While doctors have warned that Sean’s medical condition puts him a risk of death and we cannot imagine how Sean could still be alive given his precarious medical state, many of you have shared real life stories of HOPE.

Mahsa Hakim recently said, “On my week end trip to Maui, I heard an amazing story of a local homeless man who happened to gain his memory back with a help of a local church. He was originally from California and lost his memory in an accident and he was offered a one way ticket to Maui.  I did some search online and I also read a story of a lawyer from New York who lost his memory and ended up in Chicago. His picture was shown on America's Most Wanted and he was was found with a help of homeless shelter he was at.  Is there anyway to organize a nation-wide search of the homeless shelters or have his picture shown in National TV? Please let me know if I can be of any help.”

TO SEAN, WITH LOVE FROM ENGLAND

Sean is much loved and missed by his family in England. Sean  spent many summer vacations with his British cousins, Benji, Camille and Leah (Sidi), and his Aunt Francoise and Uncle Alan. We have such good memories of our family vacations together in various parts of Europe.  Sean and his cousin, Benji Sidi, are only 2 weeks apart in age - making it perfect for double the mischief. During one vacation to Sicily, both boys, who were about 3 years old at the time, "unpacked" the suitcases by throwing the clothes in the suitcases from our 2nd story apartment, down to the mud below....They had such a laugh!

BELOW IS A LETTER TO SEAN, FROM HIS AUNT FRANCOISE -

London, 29 September 2013

"Dearest Sean,"

A couple of days ago, I was coming out of our local supermarket and found myself face to face with a young man that looked so, so much like you, it was uncanny. My heart went mad! After taking a few steps away from him, I turned back and hovered around, observing him. I was totally unable to leave even after realizing that he was not you. I did not want him not to be you and hoped, I suppose, for a miracle. This young man was on the phone, talking about mundane things to a friend, maybe what he was about to buy or do that evening. A young man, just like you! I went home quite distressed, thinking of Claude, Lynn and Danielle who probably see young men, just like you and how unimaginably hard that must be!

So often with Alan, Benji, Camille and Leah, we talk about you. You are “kind of there” at dinner time when we remember a holiday and a situation that made us all laugh. How funny and mischievous you and Benji were when you were both little. How you drew these amazing mazes and what good illustrations & drawings you make. How good your French is, although you never wanted to speak it with us (hi, hi! just like Benji!). These moments bring up so much fondness and love for you.

Benji’s girlfriend, Josie, kind of knows you by now, she saw pictures of you, she heard the stories of how the two Sidi boys were so “creative” in their play… but then, there is silence, bewilderment and sadness showing in Benji’s and our eyes.

Your European cousins will not express grief and concern very easily and publicly, they are British after all! But we desperately want you to be back, to live your life, be yourself and develop all these talents that you have!

As Cousins, you may live on separate continents and live very different lives but,
Dear Sean, there are Only Two Sidi Boys! And for us there will always be two Sidi Boys!

You are One: Unique, Important and Loved.
We hope you are safe and that you will find your way Home very, very soon!

With All Our Love,
Alan & Françoise
Benji, Leah and Camille"

"I WANT MY MOTHER."

Several months before Sean went missing on May 21, 2013, he sustained a severe traumatic brain injury in an accident. In this accident, Sean completely shattered the right side of his skull and fractured so many bones in his body that it was hard to imagine that he could survive. It was touch and go for a week as Sean fought for his life. Thanks to the extraordinary skill of the neurosurgeons at San Francisco General Hospital, the impeccable and compassionate care by ICU nurses, and the incredible resilience of youth – Sean, by some miracle, SURVIVED.

I will never forget Sean’s first words, which he weakly whispered to the nurses upon emerging from his coma….

He said, “I WANT MY MOTHER.”

It is beyond comprehension that my beautiful son would survive such a horrific accident, only to be torn from my life several months later, when on May 21, 2013 - Sean vanished without a trace from San Francisco. Every night, I think of Sean, alone on the streets - wondering whether he is cold and hungry, wondering how long he can hang on, and whether he is asking for me...

Sean’s neurosurgeon says that as a missing person, Sean is at high risk of death due to his medical condition. We are trying desperately to find Sean, in time. We cannot possibly find Sean on our own. Only with everyone’s help do we stand a chance of locating Sean, in time, to bring him home safe and sound.

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT OUR SEARCH FOR SEAN. YOU CAN HELP BY:

1. POSTING SEAN’S FLIERS (download or email lynnkching@yahoo.com for fliers) – IN and OUT of San Francisco. There are still SO MANY people who do not know that Sean is MISSING.

2. SHARING SEAN’S FACEBOOK POSTS, TWEETING etc.

3. MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOU CAN HELP BY KEEPING A LOOKOUT FOR SEAN, WHO MAY BE DISORIENTED, UNKEMPT AND WANDERING THE STREETS UNABLE TO ASK FOR HELP. Remember, Sean has dimples and silver dental braces. HE COULD BE IN SAN FRANCISCO OR NOT. WE JUST DO NOT KNOW.

Please keep Sean’s picture and my telephone number (415.713.5913) in your cell phone, and call me anytime if you think you have seen Sean.

Thank you all,
Lynn
Sean’s mom

A Note Claude and Lynn, the parents of Sean Sidi, missing 4 months today

From Lynn and Claude,

Today marks 4 months that Sean has been MISSING…There are no words to describe the horrific change in our life – since that fateful day on May 21, 2013, when Sean’s cell phone went dead at 2 pm, and he did not return home. Everyday, we live a life of unfathomable sadness, depression and guilt. How could we have let this happen to our beautiful boy, who all his life strived to do the right thing….. a good student on his way to university and only beginning life’s journey. How could Sean have vanished from the city he loved so much!!?

Sean’s room remains untouched. It is too painful to walk into his room as doing so reminds us too much of our loss...Sean with his beautiful smile and funny jokes, Sean so sweet and thoughtful, Sean the son who wrote the most touching Mother and Fathers Day cards that we will cherish forever. Sean, our beloved child who we miss SO, SO MUCH…….

Everyday, we wonder whether we will ever see Sean again…. The only certainty in our life - is that we know that will NEVER stop searching for Sean.

A note from Sidi Family Friend Kathleen Fazekas

Dear Sidi Friends and San Francisco Community,

Despite several searches by hundreds of people, and the distribution of over 30,000 missing person fliers, Sean has still not been located.  The Sidi Family continues to move forward in hopes of finding their son.  They have announced that they will be holding a “Joint Awareness Vigil” this coming Saturday, September 14th @ 2:00pm with 4 other families who also have sons missing from San Francisco.  Please join us if you can. Come hear the families speak about their on-going search for their missing sons, and what – if anything – San Francisco Police is doing to help locate these young men.

WHAT:          ‘Joint Awareness Vigil’ (attached is the flier)
WHERE:       Golden Gate Park – Music Concourse (next to Academy of Science)
WHEN:         Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
WHY:            The purpose of the Joint Awareness Vigil is to raise public awareness of the families’ desperate search to locate their sons, ALL of whom went missing in San Francisco:  Sean Sidi (19 yrs old, missing May 21, 2013); Chrishtian Hughes (20 yrs old, missing February 7, 2013); Shawn Dickerson(age 24, missing December 2, 2011); Cameron Remmer (31 yrs old, missing October 6, 2011); Jackson Miller (23 yrs old, missing May 15, 2010).

Why are so many young men missing from San Francisco?  What is San Francisco Police doing to help the families locate their sons?  Do missing boys in San Francisco get less attention from law enforcement than missing girls?

According to Kym Pasqualini, Founder of the ‘National Center for Missing Adults, “These families have faced numerous barriers with San Francisco Police Department in their individual searches for their children, and their concern as to what exactly is being done by San Francisco Police, to find these young men is warranted.”

PARKING OPTIONS: 1) Street; 2)  Music Concourse parking lot - enter Fulton & 10th / $5 per hour; 3) Event Parking behind Music Concourse - enter 9th/Lincoln or Fulton & 8th & drive to Music Concourse Dr ($ 8 /day).  You will need to have a copy of Sean's Missing Flier to show that you are part of event (attached is a copy of the flier); 4)  Kezar Lot (on Stanyan)

For continued updates on Sean, you may visit either Facebook or the website http://www.facebook.com/findseansidi and http://www.seansidi.com.  And for more information, you may contact Lynn Ching (Sean Sidi’s mom) 415-713-5913.

The Sidi’s greatly appreciate your continued support, as your support gives them strength to continue their search for Sean.

Thank you on behalf of the Sidi Family,

Kathleen Fazekas

9/8/2013 - FAMILY UPDATE ON THE SEARCH FOR SEAN

TIPS AND SIGHTINGS

This week, we (Sean’s parents) viewed 2 video surveillance tapes based on tips provided by the public. The persons calling in the tips noted the exact location of “Sean” and advised us that there was a surveillance camera on the route that “Sean” walked.   While the ‘tips’ were NOT Sean, video surveillance was an effective way of confirming this information. The tips are not as frequent as before, however, this may be attributed to the fact that the San Francisco Police’s telephone number was added to Sean’s flier after the REWARD was announced in late July. We have recently REVISED Sean’s flier to include our telephone number as the primary “TIP CALL IN” number (see below).

NEXT WEEK

Next week, volunteers will be searching the Tenderloin District in San Francisco, for Sean.  In hopes of generating more tips, the volunteers will be POSTING Sean’s NEWEST FLIER.  The NEWEST FLIER uses our (Sean’s parents) telephone at 415.713.5913 as the “TIP” call in number. We did this because several people reported that no one answered the telephone when they called San Francisco Police to report a tip! Also, it is uncertain whether San Francisco Police follows up on every tip.

THANK YOU to all of you who helped POST Sean’s NEWEST FLIER last week. Hopefully, this will help generate more leads to Sean’s whereabouts.    There are still many people who do not know about the search for Sean. Others believe that Sean has been found. The most common comment we hear when posting is, “You still haven’t found him?”

Unfortunately, we still have not found Sean. The REVISED FLIERS make this clear, with the heading,  “STILL MISSING”.

IS THAT “SEAN”?

It may be difficult to recognize Sean if he has been living on the streets since May 21, 2013, the day he vanished. Here are some hints to pass on:

-          SEAN HAS BRIGHT SILVER BRACES ON HIS TEETH!!!!!!

-          SEAN has DIMPLES.

-          SEAN will probably have “BIG HAIR”. Sean’s hair is wavy and gets ‘puffy’ as it grows.

-          SEAN will likely be confused and disoriented.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SEE “SEAN”:

Put Sean’s picture and our telephone number (415.713.5913) in your cell phone.

If you see “Sean” -

1.         CALL US (Sean’s parents) at the number on the POSTER anytime - at (415.713.5913). San Francisco Police will NOT follow up on ALL TIPS. WE WILL. If you don’t have our number, call 9-1-1. San Francisco Police are well aware of the search for Sean.

2.         Note the precise information: street location (and cross streets), the exact time that you spotted Sean (this may help if there are surveillance cameras nearby);  description of clothing  Sean is wearing, whether another person is accompanying Sean, whether Sean is carrying anything such as a bag or backpack.

If you can, stay with “Sean” until help arrives.

3.         TAKE A PICTURE OF “Sean” with your CELL PHONE and send to us (Sean’s parents) at:  415.713.5913 or lynnkching@yahoo.com

 HOW TO HELP

  1. HELP INCREASE TIPS, by posting Sean’s NEWEST FLIER with the NEW TIP CONTACT NUMBER - 415.713.5913. This will ensure that ALL tips are checked out.   Even posting 1 or 2 fliers a day helps.

Email lynnkching@yahoo.com for fliers, or download from www.seansidi.com or facebook.com/findseansidi.

  1. SEAN MAY BE UNRECOGNIZABLE AT FIRST GLANCE. LOOK CAREFULLY at each person laying on the ground or walking around – IT MAY BE SEAN!!!
  2. Attend the ‘Joint Awareness Vigil’, Saturday, Sept 14, 2013 at 2 pm, Music Concourse at Golden Gate Park.

Thank you !!!

 The SIDI Family

Sean Sidi with father Claude Sidi.
