Help find Sean Sidi

Recently, I was contacted by Dimitri Barton, who had returned to San Francisco from college for the summer. Although Dimitri only knew Sean through mutual friends and various get-togethers, he wanted to get involved in the search for Sean. 

Yesterday, Dimitri and friends Drew Forest and Lucas Howard spent the DAY spreading the word about the search for Sean. They managed to get Sean’s fliers into store windows and cafes around SAN FRANCISCO. They distributed Sean’s fliers to pedestrians in the Haight and Castro area, and spoke to MANY street youth living in Golden Gate Park, WHILE HANDING OUT Sean’s FLIER SHIRTS.

From the response from people who called me, the trio's youth, compassion and humanity seem to have struck a chord in those they encountered. 

One individual who had received a flier from Dimitri and his friends called and put me in touch with a young man who he felt might have useful “Sean information”. This young man said that he had previously lived on the street for several years. He stated that he and MANY kids living on the streets had heard about the search for Sean (SIDI), though he did not know anyone personally who had seen Sean. He confirmed that many living on the streets travel a circuit (some as far as the East Coast), returning to San Francisco at various times. He felt that it was “probable” that Sean had been taken in by a group of kids, or possibly by an “older person”. 

A young woman living in Golden Gate Park advised Dimitri & friends that she saw someone resembling Sean in Eugene, Oregon about 4 months ago (If you know anyone in EUGENE, OR willing to POST a FEW FLIERS, PARTICULARLY AT SOUP KITCHENS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW). 

Although we still have NOT received a confirmed SIGHTING of SEAN, it is good to know that the WORD IS OUT ON THE STREETS, THAT we ARE SEARCHING FOR SEAN.

TODAY 6/10/2014 - A teacher at a school in Stockton, CA called after one of her students reported seeing a young man resembling Sean. There was no photo & this sighting remains UNCONFIRMED. THANK YOU to the student and teacher for keeping and eye out for Sean & for CALLING US. IF YOU CAN, PLEASE POST A FEW FLIERS IN THE STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA AREA. Currently all 5 families (including our family) are DESPERATELY SEARCHING for their sons.

Since Sean vanished a year ago, Claude, Danielle and I have battled crippling grief, despair and depression. At times, HOPE seemed elusive amidst the pain of Sean’s disappearance. 

An anonymous caller recently reminded us that there is always HOPE. This is his STORY. 

The caller said that 15 years ago he suffered a traumatic brain injury. One day – during the early stages of his recovery, he was suddenly beset by a jumble of thoughts, voices in his head, and a loss of memory. He felt compelled to leave. For 2 years, he wandered homeless (& MISSING) and lived off the kindness of those around him. After a 2 year period had passed, the caller slowly regained some of his memory – and was able to contact his family. 

We can only HOPE that WE will be lucky enough to be reunited with SEAN one day soon. 

To everyone, including Sean’s FRIENDS returning home from college FOR THE SUMMER, please keep your eyes open for Sean among the HOMELESS. Sean may not remember his name, his former life or YOU. 

However, we hope that YOU will recognize SEAN (& call us)!!
